Resulting papers include:
Objectives
- Determine the effects of glass composition, pre-treatment conditions and fabrication processing parameters on wasteform properties by using a surrogate material to simulate the HLW;
- Simulate the effects of radiation damage from the nuclear waste by irradiation in a gamma chamber or by using ion-beam accelerators
- Assessment of material characterisation via XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, XPS and Synchrotron XRD;
- Evaluation of the stability of the wasteform using industry standard leaching tests, and,
- Testing optimised compositions with radioactive materials, using specialised facilities at ANSTO
