Objectives
Objectives
- Determination of the effects of fabrication method (melting, sintering and HIPing) and conditions (temperature, glass amounts and composition, and cooling rates) on wasteform properties using a lanthanide surrogate material to simulate the HLW initially, followed by actinide validation studies;
- Material characterisation via XRD, SEM, TEM, DSC, XPS, and Raman spectroscopy and other techniques
- Evaluation of the stability of the wasteform using industry standard leaching tests, and,
- Testing optimised formulations with actinides (U and/or Th) validations, using facilities at ANSTO.
