Frederick Zhang Attends ANREN 2026 Annual Meeting in Melbourne

Our PhD student Frederick Zhang attended the ANREN 2026 meeting in Melbourne on the 9th and 10th of September, 2026. The aim of ANREN is to be a trusted source of nuclear and radiation science and technology expertise/education; the aim of the annual meeting is to discuss various aspects of the nuclear sector in Australia.  This year, the topics of discussion were understandably largely centred on the upcoming AUKUS project, with panels focussing on the topics of workforce needs, professional pipelines, social license, international collaboration. 

 

Fred received exposure to the wide berth of nuclear research being conducted by his peers.  As the only wasteform scientist present at the meeting, he thoroughly enjoyed speaking with a variety of different academics in the nuclear sector from mechanical engineers to social scientists which helped him to gain a more comprehensive view of the global nuclear sector and the variety of challenges being tackled across the field.
