Nelson Tear Awarded AINSE Pathway Honours Scholarship for Nuclear Waste Immobilisation Research

Nelson Tear was awarded the Pathway Honours Scholarship by AINSE to support his current thesis project done in collaboration with the ANSTO Synroc team. The project focuses on developing understanding related to the materials design for the immobilisation of radioactive waste containing problematic sulphate ions. This work will form the basis of a novel glass/ceramic composite waste form developed by ANSTO Synroc to support safe, secure, and sustainable nuclear technologies.

Nelson is currently in the final year of his degree with his thesis supervised by Dr. Rifat Farzana & Dr. Dan Gregg at ANSTO and A/Prof. Pramod Koshy at UNSW.
